Trailtalk COVID protocol

August 28, 2021 by Your Emotional Sherpa®

In our efforts to protect the health and safety of our clients and staff and to remain in compliance with state, county, and DOPL regulations, the following will apply to our sessions:

Walk and TalkTM Protocol:
Indoor therapy sessions available and will protocol #5.

1. Health Checks: please do not come to your appointment if you have any COVID symptoms. If you have current seasonal allergies, please inform your therapist before your appointment. Our team will not come to work with any symptoms.

2. We walk 6 to 10 feet apart, and we use a pole to maintain that distance. We recommend carrying a mask in case we need to get closer or are in close proximity to other hikers/walkers.

3. Trailtalk Therapists are vaccinated and will have up to date boosters as recommended.

4. If client is not vaccinated, masks or suitable face coverings will be required at all times during the appointment. Trailtalk® is unable to supply masks, so clients will need to provide their own. If a client arrives at the appointment without a mask, the appointment can be done over the phone or Telehealth as an alternative during the scheduled time slot. If the client declines an alternative, they will be charged for a late cancellation.

5. Indoor appointments will be spaced 8 feet apart and masks will be required.

6. No physical contact between Therapist and Client. This includes handshakes or other physical contact, borrowing phones, and accepting payment. All payments must be done through TheraNest.

7. Therapists and Clients are advised to use hand sanitizer or wash hands thoroughly before and after each session.

We wish you the best and hope for everyone’s continued health and safety. Thank you again for your patience as we navigate these changes.

Trailtalk® Park City launches TrailtalkRX: conservative medicine for active, functional individuals.

June 30, 2020 by Your Emotional Sherpa®

Trailtalk Park City introduces new ways to meet the mental health needs of the Park City community during the COVID19 pandemic.  While the world continues to experience ongoing social distancing & economic uncertainty, many highly functional individuals find themselves struggling with anxiety, depression, and other mood changes that require medical intervention.

TrailtalkRX takes a scientific approach to the human genetic signature and embraces the latest advances in the industry to help qualify patients that will benefit from this treatment path. TrailtalkRX believes that we cannot ignore the science behind how powerfully intricate and important our brains are to our emotional wellbeing.

“Technology changes in every industry, and mental health is no different. We encourage our community to invest in their mental health and be open to new ideas and concepts.  Think of how often you update your computers and phones, buy new gear for your outdoor activities due to the latest advancement… When was the last time you had an emotional tuneup and learned what was available for your mental health?”  asks Allison Page, founder of Trailtalk.

Trailtalk Park City remains dedicated to offering outdoor, socially distanced Walk and Talk™ sessions to help clients recalibrate their internal compasses.  TrailtalkRX adds additional medicinal support if necessary.

It doesn’t mean we are mentally ill and nonfunctional. It just means we need to call our closest Trailtalk® trailhead™ (AKA for office) and schedule a walk and talk with a professionally trained therapist.

Do you need sound or silence? Some things to think about:

1. How do you react to organized sound? (i.e. music, singing, etc.)

2. How do you react to unorganized sound? (i.e. clanking, loud crowds, off-tune music)

3. How do you react to silence?

4. Can you change your mood by changing your "sound setting"?

Do you ever feel like a thousand different things are happening at once? Like your five senses are constantly being triggered? A shift to a minimalist lifestyle (or at least a minimalist headspace) can help with sensory overload.

Sensory integration issues can also be improved with noise-canceling headphones. Physically tuning out sound can help your cognition and improve focus.

Let's talk about minimalism. A minimalist lifestyle is focused on consuming less and living with more specific, meaningful items in your life.

While you might see some immediate benefits on your bank statement, your mental health will also thank you! The decluttering of our homes and living spaces will also declutter our minds. Improve your headspace with fewer decisions and fewer distractions.

Happy Trails!

Boundaries make the best neighbors. Here are some Tips from the Trail if you need some fence-mending:

1. Consider how you do boundaries. Is your fence line too flexible? Is it too rigid?

2. Notice how you interact with your loved ones and colleagues. Are you the easy-going guy? Or are you known as the “my way or the highway” person? I’m not saying one is better than the other, I’m just suggesting the flexion and tension ratio in our fences significantly impact our relationships. We have to come to awareness before we can make a change.

3. Talk to a friend or family member about what boundaries mean to them. You might be surprised what you can learn from others when we broach these types of topics.

It's important to build and maintain your boundaries. Check in on your "fences" from time to time. How is the tension? How is the flexion?

Read up on our newest blog (🔗 in bio) for more on building better boundaries.

Ending relationships can be a tough road to navigate. We found a great article by Joshua Becker on Becomingminimalist.com where Josh discusses "never having to cross the street."

In brief, are you conducting yourself in a way where you won't have to cross the street if you see the other person? (See our last post!)

We all witnessed the saga of Mikaela Shiffrin unfold over the past week. Mikaela was considered a frontrunner in her Olympic skiing event and faced intense scrutiny when she error'd on her run. Simone Biles, who also faced similar scrutiny during the Summer Games, supported Mikaela.

It's important for us to celebrate others’ successes rather than reveling in their demise or defeat. Extend kindness!

Happy Trails :)
