Taking Therapy Outdoors
Being outside in the fresh air, while moving one foot in front of the other feels good physically and emotionally. Walking and talking in nature has a way of decreasing the emotional valence of an issue we are struggling and at the same time, sharpening our mental clarity. As we enjoy the sights, sounds, sensations, smells and tastes of the great outdoors, we are able to think and feel at the same time.
You can read more about thinking and feeling at the same time here.
What better way to do therapy – take it off the couch and onto the trail.
Let’s encourage each other to seek emotional care like we do physical care. It’s time to open the doors of the traditional therapy office and use nature as our therapeutic backdrop.
Meet Trailtalk®’s trailblazer therapists on our website. Go to Find a location. Maybe it’s time you get an emotional tune-up with one of us.
Thanks for reading. Happy trails, Allison
